2008 Jump Story
Some said it couldn't be done, some said it shouldn't be done, but in October 2008, a group of brave adventurers proved skydiving at Mount Everest is not only possible but one of the most spectacular skydives in the world. An international group of 41 skydivers jumped from 29,500ft in front of the world's highest mountains.Their achievements enter the record books of adventure and made them pioneers in an event that could easily become more popular than climbing Everest in years to come.

Despite the huge success of the operation in 2008, it wasn't without its challenges and dramas. A late monsoon caused changeable weather conditions, with clouds rolling in and obscuring the dropzone by mid-morning, meaning skydivers had to be ready to go at the crack of dawn. Fast-forming clouds caused two skydivers to land off the dropzone, resulting in one of them breaking an ankle and receiving on-the-spot treatment from the Everest Skydive doctor before being flown to a hospital in Kathmandu.By the time parachuting operations were completed, 76 jumps had been made in total, including test jumps from lower altitudes and the "big jump" from 29,500ft.World champion skydivers and novice part time jumpers enjoyed the skies together. Qualifying criteria for solo skydivers is 200 jumps or a C-license and tandem jumpers need no previous experience but must be medically fit.The experience gained in 2008 on the mountain was enormous. More than half the 2008 crew - will come back for Everest Skydive 2009 to deliver the Ultimate Jump chance to Clients around the world.Accompanied by a team of expert skydivers and mountain climbers, 2009 participants will tandem jump from an altitude of over 29,000 feet. Come with us to freefall in front of Everest and land on the highest drop zone on the planet.Participants of Everest Skydive 2009 will begin departures from Kathmandu on the 28th of September 2009.
